AM: You’ve been the Group CSO at Muller for a year now. What are some of the key accomplishments during your first year in the role?

MM: In 2024, we saw a 40% increase in order income compared to 2023. This strong growth came from improving our sales strategy to be more active in the market and providing the best mix of high-quality products, excellent services, and fast delivery times. These traditional key Muller strengths helped us better meet customer needs and stand out in the market.

For the future, we have made important investments to support our growth. This includes hiring a new Sales Manager for Molds & Automation in EMEA and APAC, as well as creating new roles for LATAM and expanding our Mobile Automation (AMR and MoMa) team in North America. While these investments will help us grow, the strong results we achieved this year show that our current strategy is working well and that our team is working hard.

A significant achievement has been strengthening our relationships with customers and partners. By maintaining a strong presence and providing turn-key solutions focused on efficiency and exceptional after-market care, we have reinforced our reputation as a trusted partner.

For me personally, this role has been a great opportunity to learn. I have seen how important it is to stay focused on the right strategy and to work closely with the team to deliver results in a market that is changing fast.

AM: Where do you see the major growth areas for the packaging robotics industry?

MM: The packaging robotics industry offers significant potential across various regions and sectors. North America remains a key market, driven by the growing need for advanced automation in industries such as food and beverage and pharmaceuticals, where plastics play a critical role in ensuring precision, hygiene, and speed.

Rapid growth is also occurring in important markets like Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, increasing the demand for experienced and premium partners who can help businesses excel in these regions.

Sustainability is another major trend shaping the industry. Companies are looking for robotic solutions that can handle innovative and eco-friendly materials, reduce product weight and waste, and maintain high efficiency. This trend presents exciting opportunities for product development and innovation.

AM: How do you differentiate Muller’s solutions in such a competitive market?

MM: Muller Technology stands out as a pioneer in turn-key solutions, offering the perfect combination of product development, mold making, and automation. All under one roof. Our unique positioning as a Swiss-American company with a fully integrated organization across both continents enables us to combine global insights with global presence and so localized expertise. AM: What impact do you think AI will have on your industry?

MM: AI is already having a significant impact on our daily lives and, naturally, on the automation and robotics industry. It is driving ongoing transformation across the sector. For example, AI-powered predictive maintenance minimizes downtime and boosts productivity. Real-time data analysis helps optimize production processes and prevent potential issues before they occur.

AI also supports engineering teams in addressing customization challenges by enabling automation solutions to adapt rapidly to various product types with minimal reconfiguration. This capability is particularly important for industries like food and beverage and pharmaceuticals, where flexibility and precision are essential.

In addition, AI supports human decision-making by providing actionable insights and automating repetitive tasks, fostering better collaboration between people and machines. This synergy between human expertise and AI-driven efficiency is shaping the next wave of innovation in Muller’s industrial solutions.
